BCA TRAINING PROGRAM

BCA has been providing a variety of Environmental Health and Safety Training Programs for over 13 years. We can offer our standard training programs or customize a variety of on-site safety training courses customized to include specific hazards or policies at your facility. We also understand the importance of scheduling these courses to reduce downtime, so we offer these courses anytime, any day.

Our classes are structured to provide a combination of hands on training and mock situations, as well as classroom activities in order to increase employee retention and involvement. We use only up-to-date materials so your employees have current information. Most programs include a course certification for each employee in attendance.

An Overview of Courses Offered by BCA:

HAZWOPER FOR CLEAN UP OPERATIONS
29 CFR 1910.120 (40 hour course)
This course is designed for employees engaged in hazardous waste clean-up operations (RCRA, CERCLA, and/or voluntary). The course provides information on the classification of hazardous materials, detection and monitoring, the use of protective equipment including protective suits and breathing apparatuses and the implementation of safety practices.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING for HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIANS
29 CFR 1910.120 (24 hour course)
This course is designed to prepare employees to respond to a release of an OSHA hazardous substance from outside the immediate release area. This course provides the basic knowledge necessary to respond to or assist with the various operations surrounding a hazardous material incident.

HAZARDOUS WASTE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR TRAINING
29 CFR 1910.120 (8 hour course)
This course is for managers directly responsible for hazardous waste operations and for those who supervise or train employees involved with hazardous waste or operations that pose a threat of exposure to hazardous substances. Students should have completed either an 40-hour training for general site workers.

FIRST RESPONDER OPERATIONS LEVEL TRAINING
29 CFR 1910.120 (8 hour course)
This course is designed for first responders at the operations level. They are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release. They are trained to respond in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release. Their function is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading and prevent exposure.

FIRST RESPONDER AWARENESS TRAINING
29 CFR 1910.120 (2 hour course)
This course is for individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who will initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release.

ANNUAL REFRESHER- HAZWOPER
29 CFR 1910.120 (8 hour course)
This course fulfills the OSHA annual refresher training requirements for employees who have completed the 40-hour or 24-hour OSHA course and need updated training. Supervisors and managers are also required to attend annual refresher training. Students receive current information on regulations, monitoring, safety procedures, protective clothing and equipment.

CONFINED SPACE ENTRY
29 CFR 1910.146
This course is designed to prepare workers to identify, characterize and safely enter confined spaces. It provides compliance guidelines to help employers identify permit required confined spaces and offers methods to prevent unauthorized entry. This course reviews methods to develop site-specific entry and rescue criteria, Outlines OSHA - required minimum entry procedures for permit required confined spaces, including procedures to perform hot work and the lockout/tagout of hazardous energy source.

FORKLIFT TRAINING
29 CFR 1910.178
This course meets the new OSHA standard and is designed to familiarize employees and supervisors with the site operations of powered industrial trucks. It provides compliance guidelines for general operation, lifting/moving of materials. The course also reviews types of industrial trucks, pre-operation inspection, parking and refueling or recharging. (Skills test for drivers are also available through BCA).

MACHINE GUARDING
29 CFR 1910.212
This course is designed to familiarize employees and management with the hazards of major mechanical motions and the principles of safeguarding. The course reviews where mechanical hazards occur, hazards created by different kinds of motion, and the requirements for effective safeguards, as well as a brief discussion of non-mechanical hazards.

LOCKOUT / TAGOUT
29 CFR 1910.147
This course is designed to familiarize employees and supervisors with the details to service industrial equipment safely, including the importance of energy control and how to apply energy isolation and lockout/tagout. The course reviews application, definitions, identifying energy sources, shift or personnel changes, sequence of a lockout and restoring equipment to service.

ELECTRICAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES (Unqualified personnel)

This course presents electrical safety designed to meet the requirements of OSHA's "Safety - Related Work Practices". The course reviews the definitions and nature of electrical hazards and includes training for unqualified persons. The course also covers electrical safety equipment, safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

FALL PREVENTION/PROTECTION
29 CFR General Duty PL91-596
This course is designed to familiarize employees and supervisors with the details to perform work at elevated heights, including selection, use and maintenance of fall protection equipment. This course reviews when fall protection is necessary, how to wear fall protection, its limitations, proper care and inspection of fall protection equipment.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

This course is designed to familiarize workers and supervisors with the details of Personal Protection Equipment (P.P.E.), including when is P.P.E necessary, selecting the proper, how to wear P.P.E., and the limitations, proper care, maintenance, useful life and disposal of P.P.E.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
29 CFR 1910.134
This course is designed to familiarize workers and supervisors with the details of respirator protection, including the selection, and safe use of respirators in dangerous atmospheres. This course reviews physical requirements, medical surveillance, inspection, cleaning, maintenance and proper storage of respirators and fit testing of persons assigned to the use of respirators.

FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE SAFETY

This course is designed to familiarize employees and supervisors with the details of Fire Safety, including an explanation of fire classifications, types of fire extinguisher use and the fire safety triangle.

BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS
29 CFR 1910.1030
This course is designed to familiarize employees and supervisors of the risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and the use of universal precautions to prevent contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.

HAZARDS COMMUNICATION
29 CFR 1910.1200
This course is designed to familiarize workers and supervisors with the details of the Hazards Communication program (Right To Know), including an explanation of the labeling system, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and how employees can obtain and use the appropriate hazard information.

DOT HM-126F FOR DRIVERS AND NON-DRIVERS
This course introduces the basics of the DOT hazardous materials classification systems. The course explains how to use relevant DOT tables information to properly package, label, mark, and placard shipments of DOT wastes and how to provide the essential emergency response information for the shipment. The course also includes an overview of relevant regulations and methods used in outlining the steps in identifying and shipping hazardous materials.
