OSHA Required Written Programs

To maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, many employers are required to establish and maintain written health and safety programs or OSHA Plans. Many times these written health and safety programs are the first items to be inspected by OSHA, and carry costly fines. On the other hand, when a business has well written programs that are kept current, it is thought of as being proactive in its approach to safety. Some of the most common OSHA plans are:

Hazard Communication
(Right to Know)
Lockout/Tagout
29 CFR 1910.147
Fire Safety   (Emergency Response)
29 CFR 1910.38
Electrical Safe Work Practices
20 CFR 1910.333
Blood borne Pathogens
29 CFR 1910.38
Respiratory Protection
29 CFR 1910.134
Confined Space Entry
29 CFR 1910.146
Hearing Conservation
29 CFR 1910.95
Personal Protective Equipment
29 CFR 1910.132-138
Fall Protection
29 CFR General Duty
Machine Guarding
29 CFR 1910.212
Forklift Operations
29 CFR 1910.178

Are you ready for OSHA to Inspect your Company?

Consider the Following:

Are your OSHA Plans up to date and accurate?

Certain changes can affect the accuracy of your OSHA Plans including: changes in employment, equipment, new construction, etc. Therefore, it is important to review and update your OSHA Plans every few years, or when these type of changes occur.

Do you have all the required OSHA Plans?

Some OSHA Plans become obsolete and can actually be a liability to employees and your business, therefore they should be eliminated. On the other hand, other OSHA Plans may be added to your safety programs to maintain compliance.

Are your OSHA Plans easy to use?

Many OSHA Plans are written to address only the regulation. These plans may be complicated, hard for employees to use, and soon become shelf documents. BCA can include summaries and simple instructions on who, where, when, and what to do so employees are more likely to use the plan and follow correct procedures.

Have you implemented your OSHA Plan?

OSHA Plans can only be effective if employees are familiar with the requirements and follow the procedures. BCA can help you put your plan into action, and provide recommendations on procedures, policies, equipment, documentation, signs, periodic testing/sampling, and employee training.
