New EPA SO2 Standard – What Does it Mean for Your Facility?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) changed the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for SO2 which the EPA set at 75 parts per billion (ppb) on June 2, 2010. The final rule was published in the federal register on June 22, 2010 and became effective on August 23, 2010.

EPA Extends Public Comment on Mercury and Air Toxics Standards

In response to requests from members of Congress and to encourage additional public comment, EPA today extended the timeline for public input by 30 days on the proposed mercury and air toxics standards, an extension that will not alter the timeline for issuing the final standards in November 2011.

EPA Grants E15 Fuel Waiver for Model Years 2001 - 2006 Cars and Light Trucks

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today waived a limitation on selling gasoline that contains more than 10 percent ethanol for model year (MY) 2001 through 2006 passenger vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and light pickup trucks. The waiver applies to fuel that contains up to 15 percent ethanol – known as E15. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson made the decision after a review of the Department of Energy’s thorough testing and other available data on E15’s effect on emissions from MY 2001 through 2006 cars and light trucks.

By Executive Order, new Michigan Governor Rick Snyder on Jan. 4, 2011, abolished the Department of Natural Resources & Environment (MDNRE). Executive Order No. 2011-1 recreates the former Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) as principal Departments in the Executive Branch.
